4 Month Stats

Well Sarah had her big weigh in today. I went with high hopes that she had stayed in about the 50th percentile. She weighed in at 13 pounds 4 ounces which puts her in the 40th percentile. Not thrilled that she dropped but the doctor said everything was just fine. She is only going to nurse for about 2 more months then we'll transition to formula. On a high note, she is 26 inches long which puts her in the 90-something percentile! We have a long and lean girl!

Sarah also had her shots today. She didn't do too bad at first. She screamed for about 5 minutes then decided to be a big girl and not cry the rest of the day. We left the doctor and took lunch to some friends, went to the park and played with some other friends, then headed home. She took a two hour nap but then woke up like this...poor girl!

So, me being the softy that I am, I am letting her watch TV. Haha! As soon as she saw it she stopped crying. Oh, the things we do for our wimpy, crying babies!

To swaddle or not to swaddle? That is the question.

Well, we are still swaddling...

I tried two nights in a row of not swaddling. I had great intentions of fighting this swaddle battle and winning. Both nights, Daniel and I got up at least 5 times to replace the pacifier. You know those things that people put on their sunglasses to keep them around their necks? Well, they need stretchy strappy things like that for pacifiers to keep them in place. But then some child would strangle so it's probably not a great idea. I digress. I finally gave in and in order to get a full uninterrupted night of sleep I decided to go ahead and swaddle SJ last night. The result...11.5 uninterrupted hours of sleep for Sarah. Ugh, so I guess we will continue to swaddle until she just fights it too much. It is mostly to keep her arms still so that she will go right to sleep...which she always does. She can still move her legs and kick and roll side to side (not rolling all the way over yet).
Not sure how to "wean" her off swaddling or if it really matters. I have tried letting her sleep with one arm out and she does fine. I've tried both arms out...not so fine. So for now, both arms are in and we are all sleeping soundly. We'll probably keep this up. I may be sewing these swaddlers for her when she's turning 1 but we'll sort that out when we get there. If you have any ideas for weaning her off the swaddling, please let me know. Oh and I have to say that she has napped without being swaddled for about a week now. She does GREAT...sleeps at least an hour and a half. So I'm perplexed as to why she does not sleep at night without the swaddle.

4 Months!

Really? It's been 4 whole months? I don't believe it! Here is her 4 month pic. Wish she would have smiled but it was nap time so this was the best she felt like offering.
My baby girl is growing up and changing so much. Dearest SJ, please slow down! We go for our 4 month checkup tomorrow so I will post stats sometime later. As of today...we can roll over when on our belly! I love that she is starting to get mobile but I also love that I can lay her down and she stays put for a while...which do I really want right now? She doesn't love being on her belly as evidenced in the video. She loves laying on her back and does a really good job of rolling to her side. She may start rolling over from back to belly soon as well!

Birthday Fun!

My precious nephew, Carter, had his first birthday party this past Saturday. Darin and Kati came up with a really cute sports theme for his party. We had nachos, hot dogs, cracker jacks, peanuts and cupcakes! I can't believe he is already 1!

His invitations were "tickets". Aren't they adorable!

Mom and Dad with the birthday boy!

Of course this former basketball coach had to get him a basketball! He seemed to love it!

We ended the party with a great time in the pool! Look at my girl! She stayed in the pool for over an hour and loved it!! Well, I loved having her in the pool anyway...her face looks like she's thinking something else.

Sarah loves her friends!

SJ hosted play group this week. I hadn't taken any pictures at play group yet so I decided to snap a few this week. Just look at those cute cute cute babies!

Yes, I'm bragging.

About what? Well...

Gma came to visit Monday afternoon and stayed for the night. She, like always, cooked, cleaned and did laundry. (Please don't tell her that the majority of MILs do not do that for their daughter-in-laws!) She is always a blessing to me!
Here she is cooking and holding SJ. She insisted on cooking but wanted to hold Sarah too...we made it work!
I also got a whim and decided to make a nursing cover! Check it out! Of course I would not have been able to make it without the sewing expertise of Connie! Isn't she also a great model??
So, I have all the laundry done, floors cleaned and a new nursing cover all thanks to the help of Gma...so yes, I'm definitely bragging!

Smiles and Friends

This is how my sweet baby girl wakes up...mornings, naps, and even the once-in-a-while middle of the night wakes! Happiest baby on the block? I think, yes!
T.J. serenading S.J. Just look at her looking at him...too sweet!

Sarah and Chaun. Chaun was Daniel's first friend when he moved here in November 2004.

Pool Time

Daniel's 10 year reunion was this weekend so we spent Friday in Chouteau and Saturday in Tulsa. On Friday night, Daniel took me on my annual fishing trip. I never go with him because I never catch anything and I'm always bored. Alas, I did not catch anything on this trip and I probably won't go back for another year...BUT, Daniel caught a pretty big bass! Gma kept SJ for us that evening. Thanks Gma! Also, thanks to Grammy, Papa and Aunt Bug for keeping SJ on Saturday night while we were at the reunion!

On Sunday I spent a lot of time in the pool. It was the first time I actually got in the water all summer! Sarah also got in with us. She didn't seem to hate it but she also didn't seem to love it. Who knows what she was thinking! This time next year she and Carter will be running around the pool and jumping in. I can't wait!
